I always add an asperine to the water in the vase. They last much longer.

Add about 2 tablespoons of lemon cordial to the water. The citric acid and sugar in the cordial will keep the blooms open and fresh.

This really works well. Saw it on a gardening show. Take your roses to the sink and run it full of water. Put the stems under the water and cut just a bit off of them under water. It would take an hour to explain why this works but trust me it will extend the life of the roses dramatically. After you cut them under water Put them in a vase with about half water half sprite.
