Anyone out there know how to plant and care for antique tea roses in Eastern North Carolina?

I have a sunny spot on the south side of a detatached garage (we call "The Barn" 'cause it's red and looks the part) Sun in the mornings and afternoons is limited but from tenish to four or five there is plenty of sun. I want to plant climbing antique tea roses at six feet distances…the site should handle four vines.

It sounds like you have enough sun for some types of antique roses, but I think you are on the wrong track with Tea Roses. Tea Roses are not typically climbers. Most Teas are going to grow in a shrub form. If you are looking for old-fashioned climbing roses that could be classified as a "vine" but not get too big, I would pursue roses in the Noisette category. They have longer and more lax stems than Teas, for training onto a wall, fence, or pillar, but won't get so big like the Rambler or Scrambler Roses or many modern climbers do. It doesn't sound as if you want roses to "eat" your garage. Noisette Roses were developed by a Frenchman in the Carolinas, and as a group they seem to do pretty well in the South. Aimee Vibert (white), Alister Stella Gray (yellow), Blush Noisette (pink), Deschamps (cherry red), Jaune Desprez (pink-yellow) are known to tolerate a bit of shade.
Another Old Rose Type you may want to pursue is the Hybrid Musk. Cornelia (apricot pink), Prospeity (white), Lavender Lassie (lavender pink) and Nur Mahal (red) tolerate some shade, so you know you have enough light for them. They don't get huge but can be trained onto a wall.
Sometimes Old Blush, a very dependable old China Rose with pink flowers grows large enough to be considered a small climber. It handles a little shade. Beware the one labeled "Climbing Old Blush" because the one I planted only blooms once, in spring. Normal Old Blush used the be called The Monthly Rose because it blooms every month of the year in some locales.
I recommend buying roses grown on their own roots, not grafted ones. A good well regarded mail-order supplier is Roses Unlimited (rosesunlimitedownroot.com) in South Carolina. They have a great selection of old roses. Follow their instructions "to the T" and you won't go wrong.
